At Companion Animal Wellness we offer behavior management/modification for cats and dogs. Behavioral issues of any kind can be overwhelming for any dog or cat owner. Often times, your animals behavioral issues are an indication that they are stressed and anxious. Even if the behavior is mild, the quality of life for the dog, cat or owner may be compromised and has the potential to lead to other behavioral issues. Whatever your issue may be, it's important to address it early.
Some common behavioral challenge areas can include:
Each behavior management/modification lesson begins with a Behavior Consultation of 2-3 hours. During the consultation Companion Animal Wellness will help you understand the “why” behind your dog or cat's behavior, determine your specific goals and how to reach them, and then provide the steps to get you started on the path back to enjoyable household harmony. Once consultation is complete and we review what was discussed we then can set up a management plan to help guide you and your pet. While some behavior issues can be addressed and managed or modified in a single meeting, it’s typical to expect a period of ongoing hands-on treatment to modify and or manage the behavior, Behavior Management/Modification Lessons include 1-2 hour instruction, educational literature, behavioral reports, homework, and phone support and email follow-ups to support your progress and help keep you on track with your goals.

Private Training teaches all the basic behaviors you expect from a well-mannered dog, as well as easy to apply problem solving solutions, so that you and your dog can live in harmony.
Before we begin a private training session we like to get to know your dog and evaluate how your dog interacts and what their learning style is. This helps us determine a positive training plan that best suites you and your dogs needs.
In our Private Training program you’ll learn useful, practical dog training techniques for common goals. Teaching your dog basic manners and providing them with enough mental and physical enrichment will help prevent them from developing anxiety and other stress related behaviors such as destructive chewing, inappropriate barking and aggressive display.
Five reasons to train your dog
At Companion Animal Wellness LLC we use science-based training and management, redirection, and positive reinforcement methods.
Reward-based training is enjoyable for the dog and positively enhances the relationship between the dog and the owner. This approach revolves around positive reinforcement, where we reward the behavior that we want from the animal. Rewards may be in the form of a tasty food treat, a favorite toy, physical attention or verbal praise such as “good dog!” in a pleasant tone of voice, given when the dog performs the good behavior.
Physical force, corrections and punishment are not necessary in a training program. Using these methods for unwanted behavior may in turn exacerbate the problem.
The behaviors we perceive as unwanted are actually natural to our dogs: barking, digging, jumping, chewing, etc.... We just have to teach them what, and when it's appropriate. We, at Companion Animal Wellness LLC can determine if these behaviors are becoming excessive due to stress, fear and anxiety, which will require behavior modification.
In our Private Training program you’ll learn useful, practical dog training techniques for common goals, including:
The choice is yours. Tell us what you’d like your dog to learn, and we’ll provide you and your companion with the training and coaching you need to develop those skills, and create a relationship built on trust, positive interactions and consistency.
